Our mission moving forward, is to help the homeless situation here in Texas, as well as across the United States. This situation calls for immediate action if we are ever going to end homelessness. So many people believe that this is a never ending cycle. It might be, but I believe that we can increase the amount of people that get the help that they need dramatically, if more is done. Agencies and organizations all across America have put so much into helping these individuals, and they could do an even better job if they had the necessary resources. My experiences with the homeless through the years has led me to believe that handing out socks, hygiene kits, food, blankets, and bottled water is great in attending to the survival of the homeless, its by far a solution. These people need homes; places to feel valued and appreciated for who they are. When people feel valued, they begin to change. Their spirits are lifted and they want to do better for themselves. When people are neglected, ignored, put down, and cast aside, they give up and lose hope in themselves, and in society. It's easy for you and I to simply say," Why don't they just get jobs and go to work?" You as an employee, how do you feel when you give your best and it goes un noticed? When people are un noticed, and ignored, it brings them down; a little at first, but then if you continue to be treated as if you don't exist, moral, sense of pride, motivation, willingness to continue on even becomes a way of life. When someone falls, don't you wish or hope that someone would be there to help you get back up on your feet again? A lot of the homeless individuals don't have that, and many never did. They never had that hand extended to them, and so they fell and have been fighting and struggling to get back up on their feet again. I want to extend that hand to as many people possible. I want them to know that we hear them, and see them, and that we care. I want them to know and trust that help is on the way, and I want them to know what it feels like to be valued. When you add value to someone, life changes begin to happen. I want to step into action and get them the help they really need.
